(Four Tuesday Nights)
at Santa Monica Meditation Center, (1430 Olympic Blvd., Santa Monica, CA, 90404)
Sometimes we are happy, sometimes we are not. When things are good we are happy, if not, well, then not. We might enjoy moments of happiness through a good meal or a moment of connection with a loved one. Isn’t that what mindfulness teaches? Be in the moment and aware of the joy that might be present? Yes, that is part of what the path offers but this is just a beginning.
In this Buddha’s path class series we want to explore the classic teachings of the “three kinds of happiness.” According to the Buddha there is happiness that depends on our senses and on circumstances, then there is happiness that is independent of the circumstances but still dependent on our mood and lastly there is the happiness that is independent of the senses, of the circumstances and our mood.
This is a 4 week series beginning February 12th and ending March 5th. The class meets Tuesday nights from 7pm - 9pm in Santa Monica.
Cost: This class is a donation-based class. No one will be turned away for lack of funds. Dana means giving. The suggested donation for this class series, which includes 4 classes, is $120 dollars.
$30 per person of an average size class at InsightLA covers the cost of paying teachers, administrators, rent and outreach, as well as covering the participation of students who will pay less.
