(7 Tuesday mornings)
at Santa Monica Main Center , (1430 Olympic Blvd., Santa Monica, CA, 90404)
A SPECIAL NOTE FROM THE TEACHER, BETH STERNLIEB:
I am delighted to be offering a class for intermediate students on the Mind Training Slogans of Atisha, a 10th Century Indian master. These reflections are a great support in breaking through the mis-perception that self-centeredness can ever lead to lasting happiness.
We will use Norman Fisher's book: "Training in Compassion - Zen teachings on the practice of LOJONG as reading and reflection material, in our seated meditation and daily life practice.
These slogans are powerful teachings in turning obstacles and challenges into opportunities for awakening wisdom and compassion.
The original text is based on teachings of the 10th century Indian master Atisha. I hope these first seven slogans will inspire you to join our group.
OVERVIEW OF THE SLOGANS:
1. Resolve to begin
2. Train in empathy and compassion
3. Transform bad circumstances into the path
4. Make practice your whole life
5. Assess and extend
6. The discipline of relationship
7. Living with ease in a crazy world
There are 7 weekly classes.
Please note: There will be no class on Tuesday November 7th. This class series will end Tuesday December 19th.

Please give generously. Your act of generosity is significant. The Buddha taught that all of the beautiful qualities of heart and mind begin with generosity: Generosity dissolves the separation of self and other… Giver receiver and gift intertwined. Everyone has a role to play in supporting the whole community practicing to their fullest potential.
