Join InsightLA Senior Teacher Beth Sternlieb for a daylong of practice and teachings on finding Refuge from Anxiety.
There are many sources of anxiety. Anxiety about the past or the future. Anxiety about what we should do or who we think we should be. Anxiety about the state of the world and human suffering. It is easy to abandon or turn against ourselves or others whenever we start to feel overwhelmed with anxiety. Our reaction to anxiety can be a great source of suffering when it sweeps us away from the present moment and interferes with our ability to see things the way they actually are.
This daylong will include teachings from the Buddha and from the Mindful Self Compassion Program about how to find a refuge from anxiety. We will explore practices for relaxing the body and mind in the midst of anxiety so that we can find refuge within. By strengthening our capacity to offer compassionate presence to ourselves while we feel anxious, we create the conditions to experience greater peace and offer compassion to others.
At InsightLA, we’re dedicated to creating a safe and welcome, open and equitable community that stands firmly against all racial, gender, economic, or religious bias.
