“Getting away with it all messed up, That’s called living” - James (band)
People often think of spiritual practice as necessarily inviting that which is “transcendent” or “mystical.” But what about the ordinary stuff? It’s the seemingly “non spiritual” stuff of work, relationships, politics, trauma, emotions, sex, social oppression, media consumption and addiction patterns that most of us are actually grappling with day in and day out.
The Dharma offers a wide array of practices and principles which are deeply relevant and useful to an ordinary human life. This 6 week class will invite you to drop your “spiritual mask” and show up as you really are with the challenges and concerns that populate your real life. In this gentle and non-judgemental series, we will offer some insight into how essential Buddhist practices and principles can help us navigate real-life personal and social content.
This class is a "dana" or donation based class. No one will be turned away for lack of funds. Dana means giving. The suggested donation for this class series, which includes 6 classes, is $180 dollars.
$30 per person of an average size class at InsightLA covers the cost of paying teachers, administrators, rent and outreach, as well as covering the participation of students who will pay less. InsightLA is a 501c3 non-profit organization.
