With your help, we can continueto bring the practices of mindfulness and compassionto widening circles of those in need. Please give today.
In the Buddhist tradition, the teachings are considered so precious as to be priceless. Thus they are given freely, with the opportunity to offer voluntary donations, or dana. Dana is the ancient Pali word for "spontaneous generosity of the heart." Dana both supports InsightLA and plays a central role in the spiritual life of a dharma practitioner.
Generosity is the first of the ten paramis, or qualities of character, to be perfected in spiritual life. The very act of giving benefits the person who gives, for it opens the heart, lessens self-absorption, and serves the well being of others. Simply offering a small favor, a kind thought, a meal, or a flower may be a sincere form of spiritual practice. To offer service as Dana, please see our volunteering page.
