Join us for this online 3-week drop-in series and reclaim your natural creativity through meditation and hands-on art projects in a supportive setting.
No previous art or meditation experience needed!
Mindfulness meditation empowers us to be with the truth of our present-moment experience while letting go of judgment of how things should be. Guided practices provide various approaches that richly support creative exploration and play.
Rather than being technique-based, each class will be a unique journey into the creative process inspired by multi-cultural art examples, different materials, and our own unique experiences. Each class starts with meditation and short writing or art exercises, followed by deeper investigation into themes such as mindful observation, welcoming impermanence, finding freedom in artistic risk-taking, visualizing nature as models for growth, and finding personal resonance in universal symbols and color.
We’ll try befriending our “Inner Critic,” getting out of our own way and breaking through to a more authentic artistic voice. As mindful creatives, we’ll support and celebrate each other’s endeavors while working and sharing our efforts.
THEMES:
Session 1 (Nov. 9): Refuge
Starting with a visualizing meditation, we will explore the theme of refuge for inner resilience,
and as a place from which to creatively explore color and resonant imagery.
Session 2 (Nov. 16): Growth and Change
Using plants and other natural objects as objects of meditation, we’ll use mindful drawing
techniques to connect with our own patterns of stability, growth, and change.
Session 3 (Nov. 23): Personal Symbols
Using collage and drawing inspiration from universal, multi-cultural art symbols, participants
will intuitively identify and develop their own meaningful visual language and personal imagery.
