Sometimes we are happy, sometimes we are not. When things are good we are happy, if not, well, then not. We might enjoy moments of happiness through a good meal or a moment of connection with a loved one. Isn’t that what mindfulness teaches? Be in the moment and aware of the joy that might be present? Yes, that is part of what the path offers but this is just a beginning.
In this Buddha’s path class series we want to explore the classic teachings of the “three kinds of happiness.” According to the Buddha there is happiness that depends on our senses and on circumstances, then there is happiness that is independent of that. How can we practice and deepen all kinds of happiness?
This is a 6 week series meeting on Tuesday mornings beginning Jan 14 and ending on Feb 18.
