NOTE: This series started on Nov 2.
In the Living Dharma class series, we study the traditional Buddhist teachings from the Insight meditation tradition and learn how to apply them to daily life for greater ease, clarity, and well being. There will be time for longer meditations, instruction, Dharma talks, small group work, reflections and discussion to deepen learning together in community.
In this particular class series, we’ll be drawing on Jack Kornfield’s book “The Wise Heart”. We’ll study and practice together some of the fundamental principles of Buddhist Psychology, such as how to work with emotions and thoughts skillfully, the development of compassion, and clear seeing into the nature of suffering and its release. Though not required, participants may want to purchase or borrow the book in support of their learning.
This intermediate class is appropriate for those students with previous meditation experience who have taken a previous mindfulness, Living Dharma, or Buddha’s Path class.
Participants will be strongly encouraged to meditate for at least 30 minutes daily to support the deepening of their understanding.
Please note, this is a class series, not a drop-in group. Please sign up with the intention of attending as many sessions as possible to get the most out of class and to leave space open for other students who would like to commit to the full session. Note no class on Nov 23rd for the holiday.
