Financial Support

Our mission is to make all of our programs accessible. Every fee-based offering has a limited number of pay-what-you-can spots available to support self-identified people of color, members of marginalized groups (queer people, transgender people, and  people with disabilities) and those in financial need (those for whom the cost to attend is not financially possible).

These spots are offered on a first come, first served basis. Please pay at the highest level you can afford. In order for this support to be available, we rely on those who can afford to pay the full price to do so.

Find out if spots are available by clicking REGISTER NOW on the event you are interested in.

Refund and Event Policies

This event has been cancelled. If you registered, you have been fully refunded. Meenadchi will be teaching this again on Sundays 4-6pm PST starting May 2nd. Please email support@insightla.org if you need assistance.

This event is for those who self-identify as white. To attend the BIPOC Non-Violent Communication Series click here.

As Guante spoke it, “White supremacy is not a shark, it is the water.” This workshop invites participants to explore what it means to learn and study principles of Non-Violent Communication within a context of white supremacy. How can we know that the path of non-violence we choose does not ultimately wind up upholding the very systems designed to oppress us? We are all born into the waters of white supremacy, with people of white ancestry often being the last to realize. This series offers an NVC oriented space for participants to deconstruct and explore their relationship to white supremacy, non-violence, and aligned communication. This workshop is specifically for folks who identify as white.

Sessions will be themed as below. The first two sessions will include the DNVC framework, experiential activities, and group discussions. The final three sessions will be oriented towards exploring role plays in large or small groups. Role play topics may include improving interrupting racist harm, addressing loved ones’ problematic behaviors, and making peace with one’s own inner critic.

Schedule and Session themes (6:30-8:30pm PT):
April 5: Acknowledgment
April 12: Grief
April 19: Deepening Distress Tolerance
April 26: Self-Education as Deep Listening
May 3: Accountability as a Practice of Joy

This series is appropriate for you if:

  • you have a desire to deepen your understanding of how white supremacy lives in your body and shows up in your communication
  • you are committed to racial equity as a collaborative and ongoing process of inquiry
  • you value a collective container in which the power of witnessing the work of another is equally important to forms of individual inquiry
  • you are prepared to invest in Black and Indigenous leadership.  Rates for this workshop are intentionally set at the Supporter or Sustainer level. Funds garnered here will be put towards increasing scholarship spots in our upcoming BIPOC NVC series.

This series is not appropriate for you if you are unconvinced that white supremacy exists.

Registration is only available for the full series and not on a drop-in basis. To support the wildest, most radiant level of collective trust-building, participants are asked to commit to attending each class. We also know that life happens (and life happens a lot these days).

This is an introductory level class, and all are welcome. Real time captioning will be provided for all main room content. This class will be recorded and each session will be made available to participants for one month afterwards.

Please note this class series will fill. If you would like to join, please register early to ensure your seat.
