Refund and Event Policies

Please note: This series started on April 26th. To join starting class #2 on May 3rd, please click register to the left and email celeste@insightla.org for any makeup work.

In the Living Dharma class series, we study the traditional Buddhist teachings from the Insight meditation tradition and learn how to apply them to daily life for greater ease, clarity, and well being. In this class series, we will explore further teachings from Jack Kornfield’s book The Wise Heart. New topics include a focus on mindfulness of the body and mindfulness of the Dharmas, the Buddha’s teaching on the 3 characteristics of existence, developing a non-contentious heart and a wise relationship with anger, and mindfulness of intention. There will be time for longer meditations, instruction, Dharma talks, small group work, reflections and discussion to deepen learning together in community.

It is not a requirement to have attended the first Wise Heart class series as these will be new topics, though a dedicated practice and familiarity with Buddhist principles is helpful, as this is an intermediate class series. Participants will be strongly encouraged to meditate for at least 30 minutes daily to support the deepening of their understanding. It is not necessary to purchase the book, though students are welcome to do so, as we will be exploring themes directly related to correlating chapters.

Please note, this is a class series, not a drop-in group. Please sign up with the intention of attending as many sessions as possible to get the most out of class and to leave space open for other students who would like to commit to the full session.
