Insight in Action
I cannot thank enough InsightLA, Trudy, and the generosity of those who decided to pay it forward, for making that life-changing experience possible for me.
Our founder, Trudy Goodman, incorporated community outreach into InsightLA from its inception. She began by going to juvenile halls and children’s hospitals to freely share the benefits of a mindfulness practice. Trudy dedicated herself to relieving suffering wherever she went.
In the course of her work, she saw that suffering takes many forms. She began teaching mindfulness practices to minors in juvenile halls and patients in children’s hospitals, but quickly realized that social workers and healthcare workers were also suffering. Compassion fatigue presents a significant challenge across the nonprofit sector. We know that when caregivers, social workers, teachers, and volunteers feel supported and nourished, they are better able to do what they do best: assist those in society who are most in need.
Today, we partner with 18 non-profit organizations in the Greater Los Angeles area. Through this 100% donor-funded program, we send our highly trained teachers to community sites across Los Angeles asking us to provide mindfulness training. Through this initiative, even more individuals will have access to these potentially life-changing meditation training programs.
Our Insight in Action program would not be possible without generous donations from our students and supporters. Please consider a tax-deductible gift to allow us to continue this necessary work. Your generous gift will allow us to fulfill our mission of calming minds, opening hearts, and changing the world.
