Avant-Dharma is a new and expansive learning modality developed by Thomas Davis that represents the active intersection of Traditional Dharma philosophy and contemporary Creative Expression.

Avant-Dharma emerged as a result of Thomas’s alignment and commitment to Traditional Mindfulness Practices coupled with an ongoing curiosity of the Creative Process of Jazz Artists and Jazz Theory.

Avant-Dharma is inspired by the term Vanguard / Avant-Garde, which points to those that have historically pushed the boundaries of tradition and status-quo.

The Avant-Dharma Workshop will be co-lead by Thomas Davis and Joslyn Hitter.

Together they will lead us through a day of practice of active-listening and careful observation of the Second Foundation of Mindfulness : [ Vendana ] which is translated as Feeling Tones.

This workshop will be conducted within an Immersive and Entertaining Aural field of sound, utilizing various element’s from the best of Jazz, Hip Hop, Contemporary and Classical genres of Music!

This workshop will be complemented with guided practice periods, dharma teaching, walking meditation, group sharing exercises and Q&A to throughly support our cultivation of Mindful Awareness.

We invite you to come and practice within this experiential modality for a stimulating exploration of Mindfulness and Music!

Important Note: This workshop is not being offered as a healing practice per-se, but rather as an active-exploration of Mindfulness and the full range of potential Vedana / Feeling Tones that one may experience. With that in mind, experienced practitioners are encouraged to participate.
