Compiled by Buddhist councils after Buddha’s passing, Abhidamma, sometimes referred to as “Buddhist Psychology” joined the Vinaya (moral code), and Sutta (Buddha’s teachings) as the third of the Three Baskets of the Pali Cannon. In this 6 week course we will delve into the core themes of Buddhist Psychology as a balance of theory and practice. Looking at causes and conditions that influence how we meet this moment; do they lead to increased Dukkha (discontent) or toward the Liberation from discontent? This exploration will steer us toward contemplating the activity of consciousness itself. Often regarded as technical and esoteric, we will search to make Buddhist Psychology not only accessible, but practice how to apply the concepts as essential our personal paths toward Liberation.
