Give yourself the gift of an entire day spent practicing mindfulness and lovingkindness and deepen your practice within community.
In this daylong retreat we’ll explore the Buddha’s teachings on boundless love- in particular the teachings of Metta and Compassion.
As the mind is liberated through our meditation practice, so too the heart is freed and can dwell in more peaceful “abodes” known as the “Brahma Viharas” or “Divine Abodes”. We will explore practicing with traditional meditations to cultivate the first two Brahma Viharas of lovingkindness and compassion for greater balance and ease in our meditation practice as well as in daily life.
The day will unfold with some guided meditations and silent sitting (or stationary) practice as well as walking meditation (or movement). There will be a Dharma talk, time for mindful eating and enjoying the nature surrounding us in the canyon as well as time for resting the heart, body, and mind all within the container of a silent retreat.
Towards the end of the day there will also be an opportunity to connect with community through mindful speaking and listening practice.
Space is limited, advance registration is encouraged.
We are deeply grateful to our community members for their understanding, patience, and support through this challenging and life changing chapter of our journey together. We are eager to move into the next phase of our adventure. In keeping with the principals of the dharma that underlies all of our activities, primarily precepts of non-harming, we are requiring that all attendees be fully vaccinated in order to attend any in-person event. If you certify that you meet this requirement please select ‘yes’ on the registration page. This requirement is for the initial stage of reopening and we are looking forward to practicing together once again in-person! Max capacity: 40. Please be sure to read the Benedict Canyon page for parking info and items to bring.
