In this class series we will start each week with a guided gentle movement practice alternating between Qi Gong stretches and gentle standing yoga stretches. After warming up our bodies and coming into presence we will transition to a guided body scan meditation. Each week we will explore a different body scan practice moving from anatomical parts, to four element practice, to death contemplation (awakening to life).
We will cover the first foundation of Mindfulness as taught by Bhikku Analayo. Each class will conclude with a short discussion contextualizing the guided practice within the classical Mindfulness of the body teachings. Bhikku Analayo’s book “Satipatthana Meditation: A Practice Guide” would be a welcome companion for this class.
