Taking refuge is a way to formalize one’s commitment to practice and to take shelter from the vicissitudes of life. But taking refuge does not mean retreating from life. Rather, it enables us to embrace the world in all its complexity as the vehicle for releasing ourselves from undue stress, anxiety, and worry.
This day of contemplative practice will provide a place of solidarity as a BIPOC community to practice together, including alternating periods of guided and silent meditation, walking meditation, a dharma talk on the refuges and mindful communication exercises,
Please pack a lunch and wear comfortable, breathable clothing and footwear. Limited parking is available so please carpool if possible. No meditation experience is necessary. This daylong is for anyone 18+ who identifies as a member of the BIPOC community.
