“We tend not to understand what seeing is. The instant tendency of the mind is to think of what it is seeing—a statue of the Buddha, the floor, a cushion. But the seeing is a different thing. Seeing is a very, very obvious object. Just acknowledge that you are seeing.
Seeing and thinking have similar natures. Just as we want to notice not what we are thinking about, but rather that we are thinking, we want to be able to observe and learn about the process of seeing, in particular in relation to liking, disliking, and ignoring.”

Prerequisite: Completion of a 7+ day retreat with LC and/or practice in Sayadaw U Tejaniya’s style (to listen to LC’s Dharma Talk’s click here).
When our relationship to practice becomes tight, tedious, or filled with tanha (thirst) life can easily fall out of balance. We get caught in liminal phases of indecision, turning towards unskillful coping mechanisms, and we forget our moment-to-moment practice. Fortunately, continuity of awareness in the container of sangha provides a brighter and wiser path to help us in daily life. In this abbreviated retreat format, LC will provide instructions for practice for each day and we will discuss tips, insights, and reports from the field in the evenings.
