This event is for self-identified people of color. To attend the NVC in a Context of White Supremacy from Oct 5th-Nov 5th 6:30-8:30pm PT click here.
Using a trauma-informed and decolonial lens, this 4-session series will provide collective skill-building and introspective reflection activities to explore how we hold ourselves and each other during times of conflict. Can we deepen our own somatic awareness of where our deepest triggers live? Can we use this awareness to communicate our needs with increased clarity? What are the ways we can divest from shame-and-blame language, to choose processes for accountability and healthy interdependence? Curriculum includes:
- Framework of Decolonizing Non-Violent Communication
- Somatic empathy and verbal empathy exercises
- Reflective listening exercises
- Small and large group discussions exploring how individual and systemic trauma impairs healthy communication
This is an introductory level class, and all experience levels are welcome. Real time captioning will be provided for all main room content. This class will be recorded and each session will be made available to participants for one week afterwards.
