This three day training retreat is a dynamic experiential learning featuring aspects of the New York Zen Center for Contemplative Care’s Foundations in Contemplative Care Training Program. Our faculty, Sensei Koshin Paley Ellison and Sensei Robert Chodo Campbell, blend years of experience as leading teachers in professional end of life care giving and contemplative practices. They offer a visionary and integrated approach to the practical, emotional and spiritual dimensions of the living and dying that goes into a place of integration with the traditional medical models.
Designed predominantly for anyone wanting to be more intimate with their lives, we also welcome healthcare professionals, educators, hospice workers, volunteers and family caregivers. The training is a unique opportunity for professional and personal development and to benefit from the support of like-minded peers and leaders in the field.
Offered in a retreat format, contemplative meditation will form the foundation of our work together. The training builds essential contemplative care best practices, strengthens individual capacity for compassionate contemplative service. We emphasize experiential learning and best practice application in the participant’s life and role as a caregiver. Our days will be interspersed with several periods of silent meditation, lectures by faculty, experiential exercises, writing and conversation.
