This event is the online version of a hybrid class series which will take place both in-person and online. To register for the in-person version of this event, click here.
In the Living Dharma class series, we study the traditional Buddhist teachings from the Insight meditation tradition and learn how to apply them to daily life for greater ease, clarity, and well being.
In this course we will explore the Buddha’s teachings on five qualities that empower our meditation practice: The Five Spiritual Faculties. These five empowerments — faith, energy, mindfulness, concentration, and wisdom — are our greatest friends and allies on the path of practice. These qualities are most powerful when they are in balance: traditionally we think of faith balancing wisdom, and energy balancing concentration, with mindfulness providing the inner strength to balance all of these as we stay present and awake in every aspect of our life.
There will be time for longer meditation periods, Dharma talks, discussion, and small group inquiry in class designed to help us experience for ourselves how each of The Five Faculties can be developed and utilized for the cultivation of inner balance.
Participants will be strongly encouraged to meditate for at least 30 minutes daily to support the deepening of their understanding. This class is appropriate for those with experience practicing Insight Meditation, working with the Buddha’s teachings, and / or practicing on silent retreat.
Please note, this is a 4 week class series, not a drop-in group. Please sign up with the intention of attending all of the class sessions as each class builds on the last.
If you know you will miss more than one class, please choose a drop in group instead to leave this class series space open for other students who can commit to the full session as in person space will be limited.
