_________
As the days grow shorter and the world hushes under a blanket of cold, winter invites us into stillness—a time for turning inward, much like the earth resting before renewal. Metta, or lovingkindness meditation, becomes a radiant hearth in this season, kindling compassion not just for others, but for the tender vulnerabilities that cold nights can stir. Rooted in Buddhist tradition, metta practice generates thoughts of goodwill (“May I be safe, may I be happy, may I be healthy, may I live with ease”) fostering a gentle heat that melts away the chill of isolation or seasonal melancholy. Join Melissa McKay on her birthday for a day of metta practice.
What to Expect
We’ll move through a balanced rhythm of guided sittings, mindful movement, and shared wisdom, held in the supportive container of InsightLA’s serene space. The morning unfolds in noble silence, allowing deep immersion in practice. After lunch, we’ll open to connection, fostering bonds with our sangha through discussion and gentle inquiry.
