Banish writer’s block forever and let your creativity flow! Integrate the practices of mindfulness and writing in this 4-session online workshop.
Mindful Writers
Spend four weeks crafting a completed piece of flash fiction! The more interesting takeaway? Develop a deeper understanding of how we handle our inner critics, deal with feedback, and muster the courage to put our work out into the world.
- Week 1 – Sept 27th 7pm: After a formal lecture and meditation, participants will begin work on a flash fiction piece.
- Week 2 – Oct 4th 6pm: Discover how self-compassion practice can help us roll with the punches of a creative life. Learn to resist clinging to your successes or getting sucked down by rejections.
- Week 3 – Oct 11th 6pm: Explore how the Buddhist concept of Right View can help us edit more effectively. This week we will also receive and discuss feedback from the group.
- Week 4 – Oct 18th 6pm: In our final class, we will read our completed pieces aloud. Then, in celebration of our hard work, we will, as a group, submit our stories to a contest or journal, embracing the opportunity to sit with whatever thoughts or emotions come up when we send our work out into the world.
