Financial Support

Our mission is to make all of our programs accessible. Every fee-based offering has a limited number of pay-what-you-can spots available to support self-identified people of color, members of marginalized groups (queer people, transgender people, and  people with disabilities) and those in financial need (those for whom the cost to attend is not financially possible).

These spots are offered on a first come, first served basis. Please pay at the highest level you can afford. In order for this support to be available, we rely on those who can afford to pay the full price to do so.

Find out if spots are available by clicking REGISTER NOW on the event you are interested in.

In the event that these spots have been claimed and you’re interested in attending please email support@insightla.org to be added to the financial support waitlist.

In addition, we offer Payment Plans in a variety of amounts and durations (ie: If the class is $100 you can make 2 monthly payments of $50 or 4 monthly payments of $25). For payment plan requests, please email support@insightla.org

Safety

We work to protect the safety of all students. We reserve the right to remove any student from any class, sitting group, retreat, or any event if the student is disruptive to the safe learning environment we maintain for all.

Cancellation & Refunds

We reserve the right to cancel a class or special event due to low enrollment or other circumstances which would make the event non-viable. If InsightLA cancels an event you’ve registered for, you will be offered a full refund. If an event has to be postponed for any reason, you will have the option to either receive a full refund or transfer your registration to the same event at the new, future date. Refund and Event Policies

The connection between goodwill (mettā) and wisdom (paññā) can be a surprising and delightful discovery in Buddhist practice. The clear, nonjudgmental awareness of wisdom can feel like warmth, inclusion, and safety when fully received. In turn, the heart of goodwill is free of greed, hatred, and delusion, and hence can see experience just as it is.

In this daylong, we will explore the interconnection between wisdom and goodwill. We will practice radiation of the heart qualities (one of the earliest forms of mettā practice) and the settling of the mind through breath meditation. The body is our home for cultivating these wholesome states, both on the cushion and in our day-to-day life.

This daylong includes sitting, walking, teachings, and Q&A.

About the teachers:

Lienchi Tran was born into a Buddhist family.  She began her meditation path since 1986 with Thich Nhat Hanh, Bhante Khippapañño, Ajahn Sumedho, Sayadaw U Pandita, and Sayadaw U Tejaniya. Lienchi wishes to share her understanding of how to practice to develop wisdom through the cultivation of a natural-relaxed and continuous awareness in daily life.

Kim Allen has been practicing Insight meditation since 2003, and has trained intensively in the U.S. and Asia with Western teachers, Theravādan monastics, and masters of other Buddhist traditions. Trained by Gil Fronsdal at the Insight Meditation Center and Insight Retreat Center, she offers Dharma programs, sutta study, and retreats in the U.S., internationally, and online, weaving classical Dharma into a contemporary context.
