In this five week class (one hour and fifteen minute sessions), we will explore our relationship to the body, and how and what we are embodying in our day-to-day lives. We are always practicing something, and we can choose with intention what we want to practice and engage purposely and deliberately in our daily lives. When we seek to understand what we embody when under pressure, and practice through the body meeting what arises with kindness, we can free up more choice for ourselves, and move towards aligning our actions with our true motivations.
This class integrates the Buddha’s core teaching on the Four Foundations of Mindfulness, with an emphasis on Mindfulness of the Body, and contemporary approaches to somatic transformation. Somatics is a path of practice, and a theory of how and why we change, changing for the sake of what we are committed to and transforming from a place of intention. This class includes somatic practice (working through the body to feel for impulse, aliveness, and movement), in addition to basic meditation instruction, and each class will also include Dharma sharings and community participation.
This class is suitable for all levels of meditation practice.
