Alex Maizuss

Teacher

Alex is a certified Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction teacher and a performance coach who enjoys helping people better their life through mindfulness. Initially, Alex began with Vipassana meditation in 1996 using the practice to guide herself through life’s obstacles; then, in 2008, she started attending InsightLA Meditation where she learned the genuine power of Mindfulness.

Yet, before becoming a mindfulness teacher, Alex worked in the aerospace industry for more than fifteen years as an engineer. Feeling a passion to improve her community, Alex changed her occupation and began reaching out to people through mindfulness meditation, helping them lower their stress levels from the power of reflection.

Alex received training and certification of MBSR (Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction) at the Center for Mindfulness at UCSD. She is currently training to become certified in MPEAK (Mindfulness Performance Enhancement Awareness Knowledge).

With her multicultural background, Alex instructs students enrolled in classes on mindfulness across the U.S. and in South America as she is fluent in English and Spanish.

She is also a collaborator with MindfulUSC, Mindfulness Advisor for various companies, a performance coach for the entertainment industry and a program manager for USC Center for mindfulness science.

Alex es profesora de atención plena y especialista en manejo de estrés. Le gusta servir y conectarse con la gente. Ella encontró a InsightLA en el 2008, durante un momento muy difícil en su vida, y fue así como tuvo un primer acercamiento a la práctica de atención plena. Antes de dedicarse a la enseñanza, Alex trabajó en ingeniería aeroespacial y se desarrolló como ingeniero de sistemas por más de quince años. Actualmente Alex forma parte del programa de profesores de Atención Plena en la Universidad de San Diego, y enseña esta práctica, tanto en idioma inglés como español, en Estados Unidos y Latinoamérica.
