A retreat provides a caring container to deepen our meditation practice. Time in retreat allows us to step out of the complexity of our life and listen to our body, heart and mind.
On a silent retreat there are periods of sitting and walking meditation, teachings, talks, guided meditations, and time for questions and reflections. Three healthy vegetarian meals are provided for participants and dietary restrictions are accommodated to whenever possible.
Retreatants are encouraged to practice mindfulness and loving kindness in a continuous way, staying with their own present experience as it unfolds, moment to moment. With the support of the community of retreatants and the guidance of the teachings, the body quiets, the heart relaxes, and space opens for insight and understanding to develop.
Retreat is not a withdrawal from the world. It gives us the nourishment to go back into the world with reliance and the strength to be there for others.
