Financial Support

Our mission is to make all of our programs accessible. Every fee-based offering has a limited number of pay-what-you-can spots available to support self-identified people of color, members of marginalized groups (queer people, transgender people, and  people with disabilities) and those in financial need (those for whom the cost to attend is not financially possible).

These spots are offered on a first come, first served basis. Please pay at the highest level you can afford. In order for this support to be available, we rely on those who can afford to pay the full price to do so.

Find out if spots are available by clicking REGISTER NOW on the event you are interested in.

In the event that these spots have been claimed and you’re interested in attending please email support@insightla.org to be added to the financial support waitlist.

In addition, we offer Payment Plans in a variety of amounts and durations (ie: If the class is $100 you can make 2 monthly payments of $50 or 4 monthly payments of $25). For payment plan requests, please email support@insightla.org

The teachings of Insight meditation offers a means for being with the undeniable reality of racial suffering that is present in this moment. As white people, we are often unintentionally complicit in racial suffering and seeing our white privilege can often manifest in feelings of denial, guilt, self-hatred and emotional overwhelm. These things can be difficult to name and even more challenging to hold. Dharma teachings offer us a framework to turn towards suffering with loving awareness, to investigate systemic racial inequality based in ignorance, and respond directly with wisdom and compassion. It is only with the path of practice that we can allow our hearts to break open enough to see clearly the places where our internalized racism has settled and replace it with anti-racism. Uprooting ignorance in our own hearts and minds has the potential to liberate not only us as individuals but also our families and communities.

This course is designed to help us individually and collectively look at the construct of whiteness and to contemplate how it operates internally and externally, as well as historically and systemically. Undertaking this contemplation and exploration means swimming against the stream that is the phenomena of whiteness, because the phenomena of whiteness is sustained through ignorance of itself. Undoing white supremacy and committing to the work of anti-racism is a journey, the work is ongoing and this class is just the beginning.

During the process of examining our own racial identity, we have become firm believers in the value of non-judgmental awareness. This investigation must be undertaken with compassion. It is our hope that in undertaking this inquiry into white identity, we will commit to a ground of kindness. For this reason, we ask that you commit to fully participate in this training. We hope to build a cohort that will become an ongoing community of mutual support.

The size of this class will be limited to about 30 people and we will ask you to fill out a short questionnaire after you register. Also, there will be required and suggested reading, watching videos and/or podcast listening prior to each class session: this could potentially take about an hour of time each week. Please only register for this class if you can honor this commitment.
