“What is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?” – Mary Oliver

In Buddhism, along with many cultures and spiritual traditions, it is considered a deep wisdom practice to reflect on and accept death as a natural and vital part of life. In reality, to deny death is to deny life itself. In the west, death and dying are taboo – so many of us live our lives in fear and denial until it is too late. What’s your plan for your life?

Join us as we wake up radically together monthly to meditate, reflect and openly talk about our relationship with death as a way to live more fully and deeply, right now. Through timeless Buddhist teachings, practices and inquiry, we will celebrate life by embracing the truth of impermanence as a way to enhance, heal and deepen relationships, work and life choices, as well as spiritual growth. It is never too early or too late to wake up to life in this way. None of us will live forever, so all are welcome!

Together we will celebrate life and explore mortality with mindful conversations that help lessen death anxiety in a safe, nurturing, and supportive space. Each gathering will involve experiential practice, relevant talks, prompts for inquiry and reflection, group sharing and community building.

Let the truth of dying change everything…….

-Mindfully Yours, Lisa and Rosamaria

The Summer Day

Who made the world?
Who made the swan, and the black bear?
Who made the grasshopper?
This grasshopper, I mean—
the one who has flung herself out of the grass,
the one who is eating sugar out of my hand,
who is moving her jaws back and forth instead of up and down—
who is gazing around with her enormous and complicated eyes.
Now she lifts her pale forearms and thoroughly washes her face.
Now she snaps her wings open, and floats away.
I don’t know exactly what a prayer is.
I do know how to pay attention, how to fall down
into the grass, how to kneel down in the grass,
how to be idle and blessed, how to stroll through the fields,
which is what I have been doing all day.
Tell me, what else should I have done?
Doesn’t everything die at last, and too soon?
Tell me, what is it you plan to do
with your one wild and precious life?
—Mary Oliver
