Embracing Connection & Creativity through Sound

Human Connection is said to be the antidote to depression, and it has worked for me. For a good part of this lifetime, I went in and out of various states of depression eventually finding equilibrium by cultivating the mental and emotional space in which to experience multiple feeling states at once. Music has been a big part of my journey to wellness and connecting with others in the musical sound space has been powerful medicine for me.

Creating sound collectively connects us to each other.  This connection is amplified through intention setting and chanting as a group before the sound meditation. It is a creative way of expressing our innermost thoughts and feelings, allowing them to move into a lighter, more open space. This space is where I find contentment, happiness –  a place where joy can arise more freely.

For me as  a performer, truly being present for human connection is about being present to the people who show up, paying attention to the energy that’s present in the room, and listening energetically to what’s needed. Every session is a new experience  – the result of creating music in real time. It has become my mindful creative flow, creating music that keeps me connected to myself and to others in a sacred space of creation. Presence = Mindful Musical Flow.

This is my creative outlet, though creativity itself can take many forms. Anything you do in life can become an intentionally creative act. What activity fuels your creative spark? Find it, because that’s always where the joy lives.

However, I do recognize that tapping into joy isn’t always easy. The difficult moments invite us to just be with what is, to feel it fully. All feeling states are required for the full human experience and the more they are all allowed, the more room is created for joy. I am learning to invite in the shadow and let it coexist with the light. Let it all be part of the experience. Sound Meditation Music can help create this opening. I look forward to connecting with you there.
